Sen. Ted Cruz said Bingo’s sister sites have been a “scam” and that “the BING-ING is not the scam.”
Cruz, R-Texas, told reporters Thursday that the Bingo sister site is a scam.
“It’s not a Bingo Bingo,” he said.
“We’re not in the business of selling Bingo games.”
Bingos sister sites do not have Bingo links, he said, and instead are advertising Bingo game titles as a way to earn Bingo points, which can be redeemed for Bingo tickets.
“They have no connection to Bingo, and they don’t have Bingos sister site.
And they’re not selling Bingos game titles at Bingo sites,” he added.
Bingo, which has a large advertising budget, has been the target of multiple lawsuits over alleged copyright infringement.
A federal judge in December 2015 issued a preliminary injunction against Bingo and its sister sites.
The company appealed, and on Monday a federal appeals court issued an emergency order allowing the injunction to take effect.
The lawsuit alleges that Bingo has been using Bingo titles in ads for Bingos products and websites.
Bingo also has been sued by the National Association of Broadcasters and the Entertainment Software Association, alleging that the sites infringe on copyright.
Bingo said it is reviewing the decision.
The Bingo company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
